In 2010 KAPPAZETA widened its service creating the new AKTIV division, which offers two different lines of products: GEOUP® and GEOROUND®.
In this movie we will see the installation of GEOROUND® piles for the construction of a new pile foundation and we can better understand how these elements, with specially designed propellers, represent a much faster, more convenient and less expensive solution than conventional processes.
The GEOROUND® pole is a modular element, tailored for any specific building need and construction land situation, the building material is high resistance steel S 460.
The size, number and distribution of propellers welded to the central column, are variable according to the characteristics of the soil and the loads transmitted from the structure. The ability to provide both the spearhead and the subsequent extensions of one or more propellers, allows a virtually endless range of configurations of the pole. GEOROUNDS are installed with a precise relationship between rotation and thrust, calibrated to specific project values and monitored during construction; the rotation is impressed by a hydraulic engine mounted on small dimension suitable machines. Having positioned fixed wires of the project track and identified the exact point on which to install the poles, we proceed quickly with the implementation of the elements: in this case the head is equipped with 3 propellers.
The propellers are single-threaded, their pitch, shape and spacing designed for maximum flow and minimum disturbance of the soil during installation.
You then continue with the insertion in depth, connecting the successive extensions through high strength bolts. This will quickly and effectively bring the propellers to the project depth.
KZ technicians, always on the spot during all phases of installation, constantly monitor the torque achieved by the hydraulic engine. The measured installation torque is directly proportional to the flow reached by the pole. This allows to regularly check the scope of each pole.
Should the heterogeneity of the soil or unforeseen geotechnical conditions require project changes, thanks to the modularity of the GEOROUND® pole, all you have to do is increase or decrease the number of extensions or propellers.
These poles, also excellent as tension bars, can also be used in cases where the solid horizon is at depths beyond reach. GEOROUNDS can be calculated for each type of soil which presents a number of strokes of less than 100 for 30 cm in the SPT test (Standard Penetration Test).
The head of each pole will then be reinforced with special plates as laying reinforcement, allowing a proper connection with the foundation beam.
The speed of installation of the building site, the use of compact vehicles, the repositioning of equipment in negligible times and the execution speed of each pole, allow to greatly speed up the construction work of piling.
In addition to presetting the flow rate in accordance with the torque it is possible to perform the load tests required by the Technical Regulations for Construction of 2008.
These tests allow to further assess the ability of GEOROUND®, pushing it up to 1.5 times the load for which it was designed.
The contrast structure required to carry out load tests is very small and easy to implement. 4 poles are used as tension bars, which will be uninstalled at the end of the test by simply unscrewing them. These tension bars are constrained to UPN beams used to make them integral to the jack that will test GEOROUND®.
The control equipment is completed by centesimal comparators, to accurately measure the settlement of GEOROUND® and the load cell, to know in real time the load imposed on the pole.
The test times are specified in norm CNR 191, 1999 and the technician verifies that the operation is performed in a state-of-the-art way and in accordance with applicable laws.
At the end of the test the structure is completely disassembled, including rods, allowing the continuation of the work to be carried out.
The GEOROUND® poles, being easy to remove and recover, are also ideal for temporary structures and provide an alternative to micropoles for the recovery and strengthening of buildings damaged by differential settlements or to increase the bearing capacity of existing foundations in view of additions of storeys and load increases.
