Today we are going to cover all the fine points of installing a Pro Series. All these steps apply to the different versions of tongue weight; 750, 1100 and 1400 pound tongue weight. We already have a lot of sub-assemblies done, which are real easy to do on your own. We will just show you the finer points of actually connecting it up and doing some measurements.

Our goal next for a head assembly is to get the ball height about an inch and three quarters higher than the coupler height. We will just use the hole on the shank to get as close as possible. We probably will not be exactly on it as specified, but when we get to the fine-tuning part with the teeth, that should bring us into range. All right, so that is going to be a little bit short of our goal, and we will go with the specification of how many teeth should be showing on here to bring us to the right height. On the setting here, we want to put two teeth showing, and then we can go ahead and install our nuts and lock washers and tighten it down from there. Once you get your head assembly attached to a shank and adjust it to the height as close as you can get, then we will make up the difference with the rest of the teeth on the head assembly. There is a specified amount of teeth for each tongue weight.

In our case, we will be using 1100 pounds tongue weight and there will be a minimum of two teeth showing. So we will go ahead and set it up for that. It is on this side of the head assembly. And we are going to have two of them showing. And we will double-check our height. We need to go one more. I went three. Twenty-three. Okay, that is just what we need right there. At this point we can go ahead and tighten everything up. After we install our bracketry on the trailer. And for an 1100 pound setting, we have a range of 24 to 32 inches of adjustment on your bracket. And what they are measuring is from the center of the ball out to the frame here. Again, you have got 24 inches of adjustment where you can put that bar. And you have got from here to here, 32 inches. Now sometimes you will have things, like propane tanks like this one, that get in the way, so that gives you plenty of room to get behind it and mount your bracketry that way. Since we already have everything marked out, let us go ahead and set up our bracketry. All right, we will snug up our bolts and go ahead and torque those down. There you go.

Okay. Then you go ahead and repeat the same process for the other side. When you have it properly tightened down, this is supposed to flex. That is normal. All right, at this point we can go ahead and back up our truck to a trailer, and then we will connect the two together. At this point, we are going to go back up, picking up the truck and the trailer. We have to do this every time we take the spring bars off and on. And once you get it high enough, we will install our bars, and we will just lay them into the pads. Clip it into place and go ahead and repeat for the other side. Okay, at this point we will go ahead and lower our trailer back down. The weight will be on the spring bars and we will go ahead and double-check our measurements. After you get done, take a few steps back and take a look, and make sure everything is nice and even. With this assembly you will not get it perfect, you will not be able to fine-tune it like you can with a chain-type weight distribution, but it is a lot easier to work with. And there you have it.
