#Bitexco #Financial #Tower (Vietnamese: Tháp Tài chính Bitexco) is a 68-Storey, 262.5 m #skyscraper in #Ho #Chi #Minh #City, #Vietnam. At completion in 2010, it became the tallest building in Vietnam and kept this status until January 2011, when it was surpassed by Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower. Bitexco Financial Tower is owned by Bitexco Group, a Vietnamese company. With 68 floors above ground and three basements, the building has a height of 262.5 metres (861 ft), making it the tallest building in the city, the 3rd tallest in Vietnam, and the 124th tallest in the world[citation needed], as of the beginning of 2016.
The tower is owned by Bitexco Group, a multi-industry corporation, with a focus on real estate development. The building also houses the Ho Chi Minh City office of Bitexco Group, while its headquarters are in Hanoi.
The tower was designed by Carlos Zapata, Design Principal and Founder of Carlos Zapata Studio (www.cz-studio.com), with French company AREP as architect of record. Designer Zapata, who was born in Venezuela but is based in New York City, drew inspiration for this skyscraper’s unique shape from Vietnam’s national flower, the Lotus.
The tower was officially inaugurated on October 31, 2010. In 2013, CNN.com named the Bitexco Financial Tower one of the 25 Great Skyscraper Icons of Construction. And in 2015, Thrillist.com named the Bitexco Financial Tower the #2 Coolest Skyscraper in the World.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2005. Two years later, in June 2007, construction of the tower started. The tower topped out in mid-2010 and had its inauguration ceremony on 31 October 2010.
Amongst other international awards and recognitions, on November 30, 2011, Bitexco Financial Tower received the “Excellence in structure engineering awards 2011” in the “International structure over $100 million” category. NCSEA
Bitexco Financial Tower is an international standard mixed use project which includes office, retail, F&B and entertainment space. The tower has around 38,000 square metres of premium Grade A office space, from 7th to 65th floors, and a five-storey retail podium, Icon68, including food court and seven screen multiplex cinema with around 10,000 square metres from Ground to 4th Floors. At Floor 49, at height around 178 metres, there is an observation deck, Saigon Skydeck, open to the public daily and offering 360 degree panoramic views of Ho Chi Minh City. From floors 50 to 52, there are further F&B and entertainment offerings, including a fine dining restaurant and bar/nightclub.
Vietnam’s first non-rooftop helipad is on the 52nd floor of the Bitexco Financial Tower. The helipad extends 22 meters out from the main structure. It is strong enough to carry a helicopter up to 3 tons of weight.
The glass from Belgium was purchased and shipped to China for manufacturing. Once in China the low iron heat strengthened glass was cut into 6,000 individual panels. Each panel is double glazed with the outside layer being 8mm thick and internal air space of 12mm and an internal panel of 8mm. Finally the glass was shipped to Ho Chi Minh City and the panels were installed as the building grew higher. Each of the 6,000 sleek glass panels enveloping the Bitexco Financial Tower is individually cut to unique specifications because each floor is unique, giving the building its eye-catching shape.
Helipad
Located on the southern side of the Bitexco Financial Tower, the helipad cantilevers from the 52nd floor and resembles a blossoming lotus bud.
Constructed from more than 250 tons of structural steel and requiring 4,000 ultra-strong bolts to hold it together, the helipad took almost a year to plan, build and coordinate before it could be hoisted to its place at height around 191 meters. Its installation alone took about two months.
Most of the materials used to construct the helipad were purchased from Europe and South Korea and the manufacturing took place in Bu Gang, a city near Seoul. Once the fabrication of the helipad was completed, it was shipped to Vietnam.
To ensure proper assembly, the entire helipad was pre-assembled on the ground of a factory in Đồng Nai Province in Vietnam – a process that took about three weeks.
When the helipad was ready to be lifted into place, the roads surrounding the southern face of the Bitexco Financial Tower were closed for safety reasons and the helipad was transported into the centre of District 1. The massive yet delicate operation of lifting the helipad began. It was lifted in parts and attached to the 52nd storey of the Bitexco Financial Tower, 191 meters above Ho Chi Minh City.

Usain Bolt wins 4x100m relay final for gold triple-triple, Australian Alana Boyd misses pole vault medal

USAIN Bolt has capped his Olympic career by achieving his historic triple-triple and becoming just the third track and field athlete to win nine gold medals.

And Bolt has rejected rumours doing the rounds in Rio that he might come back to tackle the 4x400m final in 24 hours in pursuit of gold No.10.

“No, that’s it. This is it. I’m happy,” Bolt told Channel 7.

Bolt anchored home the Jamaican relay team to gold in the 4x100m relay, to join Carl Lewis and Paavo Nurmi on nine golds.

“They came out and they did it for me,” Bolt said of his relay teammates.

“They did it for me. I’m happy and proud and they executed it well. I have to give it to these guys because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have got my third gold medal.”

Bolt ran a superb anchor leg to help his team finish in 37.27 seconds and beat surprise silver medallist Japan (37.60s) and the Canada (37.64s) in third. The United States crossed the line ahead of Canada but was disqualified after Mike Rodgers and Justin Gatlin exchanged the baton outside the area.

Bolt joins Lewis – who won over 100m, relay and four times in the long jump, making him arguably a better all-round athlete – and Nurmi, a Finnish distance runner, on nine golds.

The Jamaican, 29, went into the race about as vulnerable as he ever was in his three Olympics, after a low-key debut at age 17 in 2004. But he signed off with his historic triple-triple of three straight 100m, 200m and relay golds.

Bolt’s teammates have been out of form. Asafa Powell is relay only in Rio, Nickel Ashmeade failed to reach the final of either the 100m or 200m while Yohan Blake appears to be in decline and failed to medal in the 100m and missed the 200m final altogether.

But the trio gave him every opportunity, passing him the baton on a par with the other leaders.

He was just behind USA runner Trayvon Bromell when he took the baton but was ahead 20m into his leg and ran away brilliantly to win by 10 metres.

The four Jamaicans enjoyed a slow lap of honour, stopping to bust out some dance moves.

Then Bolt stopped to kiss his winning lane 4 of the Olympic track.

Many in the crowd stayed around to watch Bolt go through his commitments with TV rights holders and they sang Happy Birthday to him. Bolt turns 30 tomorrow.

Australia’s Eloise Wellings (9th, 15:01.59, SB), Madeline Heiner Hills (10th, 15:05.05, PB) and Genevieve LaCaze (12th, 15:10.35, PB) have run a 5000m final won by Kenya’s Vivian Cheruiyot.

In something of an upset, defending champion Cheruiyot cracked Ethiopia’s 10,000m sensation Almaz Ayana with an Olympic record time of 14:26.17sec.

Ayana faded to the bronze medal in 14:33.59, while Kenya’s Hellen Obiri took silver in 14:29.77.

Australia’s Alana Boyd has suffered a heartbreaking medal miss, losing bronze on countback in the pole vault.

New Zealand teen Eliza McCartney was level with Boyd’s leap of 4.80m but had no missed attempts before both jumpers went out at 4.85m. Boyd missed two vaults at 4.70m and one at 4.80m to drop to fourth.

Greece’s Ekaterini Stefanidi then took gold on countback from USA’s Sandi Morris after they both cleared 4.85m. Both athletes went out at 4.90m but Morris had an additional failed attempt at 4.70m.

USA has won the women’s 4x100m relay after their controversial reprieve from the heats.

The line-up of Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Tori Bowie won in 41.01 sec, from Jamaica (anchored by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in 41.36) and Great Britain (41.77).

USA dropped the baton in their heat but Brazil was blamed for interference. Brazil was disqualified and the USA given a time trial run on an empty track, which got them the fastest qualifying time and knocked China out of the final.

USAIN Bolt has achieved his goal of athletics “immortality”, blowing away his rivals for an unprecedented three straight 100m-200m Olympic gold medals.

Bolt may have missed the world record he had his heart set on but it did nothing to dampen the celebrations of the great Jamaican or the Brazilian crowd that has taken him in as one of their own.

Bolt won in 19.78 seconds from 100m silver medallist Andre DeGrasse (20.02), with Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre (20.12) a delighted bronze winner.

“I have proven to the world over and over again that I am the greatest,” Bolt told Channel 7.

Bolt, who noticeably tore the competitor number off his right leg in frustration moments after crossing the line, provided two reasons for not getting the world record. One, he’s getting older. Two, in a subtle dig at the rivals who could not get near him, he said he had no help.
