Finding Dropped Screws And Bolts On The Floor Tip Of The Day Snow commute Bike Blogger

Finding dropped screws, nails, nuts and bolts on the floor can be a very aggravating task.

I dropped an allen bolt in my garage the other night and finally after 30 minutes of searching with a flashlight and vacuum cleaner I found it.

As it turns out the allen bolt fell in a hole under a sole plate in my garage wall. I tried to fish it out but ended up pushing it further down and eventually it fell under the foundation. The bolt apparently was not magnetic but I should have tried a piece of tape to capture it instead of using a paper clip and chopsticks. :p

Ah, but I rejoiced when I discovered I had a box of 50 screws from when I last lost one. Same size and length. Awesome!

Quick tip: Turn off the lights, and shine a flashlight parallel with the floor to pick out small objects faster. Also try a vacuum cleaner with a sock over the nozzle, or a magnet (if what you dropped is magnetic).
