Today we’re going to install and take a look at the Dutton Lainson extra offset trailer spare tire carrier, part number DL22145. Here’s what our carrier will look like with our spare tire mounted. As you can see, from the angle of the carrier and then the angle of the face of the carrier that our wheel mounts to, it angles the tire out away from the frame so that we get plenty of clearance between the spare tire and the boat. Now our carrier is designed to fit 13 and 15-inch wheel or rim tires. It will fit 5 on 4 and 1/2-inch bolt pattern and 6 on 5 and 1/2-inch bolt pattern through the 3 studs to bolt to the carrier. Currently we’re on a 5 and a 4 and 1/2-inch bolt pattern and we can use the other 3 studs by simply taking the studs out and driving them into the other 3 pre-drilled holes for the 6 and a 5 and 1/2-inch bolt pattern. When bolting to our frame, the carrier is designed to fit a maximum width of 3-inches and maximum height of 5-inches. The carrier and hardware is zinc-plated with a tough plate finish that has 3 times the corrosive resistance of a standard zinc-plated chrome process and 30% greater resistance when compared to powder-coated finishes. Now to mount our spare tire carrier we’ll have the main body and bracket that will get clamp to our frame.
